AH1N1 under total control, no cases reported from March – Health Ministry

The AH1N1 influenza popularly referred to as Swine Flu reported first in Sri Lanka last October has been brought under full control, the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Minister told Ada Derana today. According to the Director of the Unit there were no new cases of AH1N1 reported since March.

 

 

Director Dr. Paba Palihawadana said that there were only two cases last reported in February.

 

 

AH1N1 was first reported in October and spread rapidly, however Health Ministry officials have managed to restrict the spread and brought it under control in a short span of time.

 

 

A total of 642 people were diagnosed with AH1N1 and 48 influenza related death were reported.
