18 deaths due to road accidents on New Year’s Day

Sri Lanka Police says that at least 18 persons have died due to vehicular accidents in various parts of the island yesterday (January 01).

Police Spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said that 08 of these deaths are from accidents that had occurred within yesterday while the other 10 had succumbed to injuries yesterday after being hospitalized from previous traffic accidents.
