There is no truth whatsoever behind messages circulating stating that certain calls or SMSs on mobile phones would cause brain damage to the recipient, says the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC).

Rumours circulated this morning that Short Message Services (SMS) had caused brain damage or harmful effects to recipients of certain phone calls or SMSs prompting doubts among mobile phone users.

However, the TRC assured the public that there is no truth in the rumors and that it was a false alarm.
