Fire breaks out in building at Jampettah Street

A fire has reportedly broken out in a building at Jampettah Street in Colombo and has spread to other nearby buildings. 

The Fire Brigade said that 10 fire trucks have been deployed to help douse the flames.

The fire had reportedly erupted in a storage complex housing tractor spare parts and equipment which is located at Jampettah Street.

The fire has also spread to several adjacent buildings including houses.

The Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) fire brigade has also dispatched several fire trucks to help extinguish the flames. 

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained while police have commenced an investigation. 

The storage premises has been almost completely destroyed by the fire while several nearby homes have also been damaged.
