Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) cargo planes are to be used to transport essential medicinal drugs and supplies into the island from overseas, Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena told Adaderana a short while ago.

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary and Polonnaruwa district parliamentarian who was the former Minister in charge of Agriculture and Agrarian Services Development said that SLAF transport facilities will be utilized to ferry essential medicinal drugs ordered from other countries, thus cutting down on time and other transport formalities.

Similarly, the SLAF could also assist in the distribution of these essential healthcare items within the island, said the Health Minister.
