Venerable Omalpe Sobhitha Thera says all places of worship must unite at the moment to save the country from the ongoing economic crisis.

If the wealth of well-off places of worship are donated to the Treasury, a transformation that will benefit the people in the future can be witnessed, Sobhitha Thera pointed out.

The country is facing a serious economic crisis and the Treasury is running out of money, he said further.

Sobhitha Thera, referring to the financial crisis Thailand faced back in 2007, said the Thai monks donated the wealth, especially the gold, belonging to the temples to the government to help overcome the crisis.

He suggested that it is appropriate to take this example into account at this critical moment, appealing to religious leaders to take the request into account.
