Intercity and special train service fares increased

Fares of intercity and special train services on the Upcountry Line and the Northern Line have been increased, the General Manager of Railways announced today.

The revision in fares is effective from midnight on Wednesday (March 23).

A notice issued by the Railways General Manager noted that fares of intercity and special trains to Ella railway station were also amended.

At a Cabinet meeting held earlier this month, Minister of Transport Dilum Amunugama hinted at an increase in train ticket fares in line with the recent fuel price hike.

The revised fares of intercity and special train services are as follows:
