The Ministry of Education says that steps will be taken to provide school holidays for primary students of all schools in the island from tomorrow (April 04).

Secretary of the Education Ministry Prof. Kapila Perera stated that the school holiday will continue until April 18.

In addition to this, a decision has also been taken to provide school holidays for all government schools in the Northern, Southern, North Western and Eastern provinces from tomorrow.

However, the principals of all schools in the North Central, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and Western provinces have been instructed to only call students, who are yet to complete their term exams, to schools in the coming days and to hold the relevant exams.

However, although students will be given holidays from tomorrow, all school staff including principals and teachers have been instructed to report to schools as per usual.

Meanwhile all Catholic private schools Catholic international schools in the Western Province will have holidays next week.

Considering the present situation in the country, all Catholic Private Schools and Catholic International Schools in the Western Province will be closed from 4th April to 8th April, the General Manager of Catholic Private and International Schools Fr. Gemunu Dias said.

He, however, said that term tests will be held for the relevant classes as scheduled.
