CWC decides to remain independent in Parliament

The Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) says it has decided to function as an independent group in the parliament.

In a statement, the party’s president Senthil Thondaman said the CWC decided to quit the government on a unanimous decision.

Thereby the general secretary of the CWC, MP Jeevan Thondaman and CWC chairman MP Marudapandi Rameshwaran will represent the parliament independently from now on.

The CWC called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to discuss the current situation and the issues faced by the people.

Meanwhile, MP Jeevan Thondaman has resigned from his state ministerial portfolio. He served as the State Minister of Estate Housing & Community Infrastructure.
