Vehicular movement on the Galle Road is completely blocked in Panadura area, says Ada Derana correspondent.

The road is blocked by a protest staged by a group of three-wheeler drivers demanding fuel.

In another development, vehicular movement on the Colombo-Chilaw road was obstructed in the area of Kakapalliya this morning, due to a demonstration organized by the owners of private sector buses.

Another protest was staged in the middle of Dambulla town earlier today, by owners and drivers of backhoe loaders. The protest caused traffic congestion in the area as the road was blocked with backhoe loaders.

The agitations came after the Lanka IOC and the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) increased the prices of fuel yet again, amidst the ongoing shortage of fuel and dollar crisis.

Lanka IOC’s price hike was effective from midnight on April 17. The CPC, mirroring the move, announced its price revision yesterday.
