Visitors Board for Angoda Hospital reenacted after 10yrs

The Health Ministry has decided to reenact the Visitors Board after a lapse of 10 years to report on mentally ill persons sent to the Angoda Hospitalon Court orders. The Ministry claims that due to the absence of the Board patients have met with many hardships.

 

 

The Ministry claimed that there were many patients who were still at Angoda Hospital even after recovering from their mental ailment.

 

 

Accordingly the approval of the Visitors Board is required to release patients who recover and due to the absence of the Board for 10 years such patients could not be released.

 

 

Hence upon considering the situation Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has directed to reinstate the Visitors Board immediately, Health Ministry said.
