Tense situation reported near CID

A tense situation is reported in front of the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

 

Earlier today, a group of protesters from the GotaGoGama protest site at the Galle Face Green had staged a protest near the CID premises, demanding the arrest of MP Johnston Fernando.

 

The parliamentarian arrived at the CID this morning to record a statement pertaining to the attack on the anti-government protesters in Colombo on the 9th of May.

 

A tense situation ensued as the protesters attempted to advance through the police barricade near the CID.
