Wimal’s wife sentenced to two years in prison

MP Wimal Weerawansa’s wife Shashi Weerawansa, who was found guilty of submitting forged documents to obtain a diplomatic passport, has been handed a two-year rigorous imprisonment.

When the case was taken up today (May 27), the Colombo Magistrate’s Court also imposed a fine of Rs. 100,000 on the accused.

The lawsuit was filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) during the administration of the Yahapalana Government.
