With the term of office of the three members of Commission ending last December, not a single raid or investigation has been carried out since, say officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Since new members have not been appointed, there was no way to carry out raids or investigations as permission had to be obtained fur such activities, added the officials.

Appointment of members to the Commission is vested with the Constitutional Council (CC). Since the CC is itself dysfunctional, only the President has the authority to appoint the members.

CIABOC officials hope that the President would take the prerogative in appointing the three members of the Commission in the near future.
