Makumbura Multimodal Centre blocked by protesters

Makumbura Multimodal Centre in Kottawa has been blocked completely by bus drivers demanding fuel.

According to Ada Derana correspondent, the protesters have parked their buses blocking the premises.


UPDATE: The bus workers operating on Kottawa-Borella (route 174), Kottawa-Mount Lavinia (route 255), Homagama-Colombo Fort (route 138) and Mattegoda-Colombo Fort (route 138/1) have joined the said demonstration at the Makumbura Multimodal Centre.

Meanwhile, it WAS reported that tensions were high between the passengers using expressway buses and the protesting bus drivers.

A team of officers of Homagama Police also arrived at the scene to take the situation under control.

Later, a discussion was held between the Makumbura Multimodal Centre officials and the bus drivers on the provision of fuel.

Meanwhile, the manager of the multimodal centre was hospitalized after suddenly falling ill amidst the discussion.
