June 21, 2022   02:27 pm

The parliamentary sessions are limited to two days this week (June 21 and 22), Leader of the House Minister Dinesh Gunawardena says.

It was decided at the meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena today (June 21).

The decision was reached after taking into account the prevailing shortages in fuel, despite the decision previously taken by the committee to convene the parliament from June 21 - 24.

Meanwhile, due to the Opposition’s announcement that it will boycott this week’s sittings, the independent parliamentarians have decided to move the adjournment motion pertaining to the prevailing health issues of the country which was scheduled to be moved by the Opposition for the purpose of taking up for debate tomorrow (June 22).

Following the adjournment of Parliament tomorrow, it is scheduled to reconvene on Monday, July 4th.

Time has been allocated from 10.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. for 50 Questions for Oral Answers which could not be taken up in Parliament due to various reasons.
