Train ticket fares increased from next week

Train ticket fares will be increased from the 12th of July (Tuesday), Sri Lanka Railways announced today.

Following the price revision, the minimum fares for first, second and third class tickets will be as follows:

First-class - Rs. 100.00
Second-class - Rs. 50.00
Third-class - Rs. 20.00

The platform ticket fare will be Rs. 20.00.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transport and Highways Dr. Bandula Gunawardane has published the revised train ticket fares in a special gazette notification issued yesterday (July 07).

The communiqué was issued pursuant to Sections 03 and 04A of the Railways Ordinance (Chapter 200).
