No one can assume leadership by force. But there are claims by some that the future leaders of parties and Opposition will be from Hambantota. However, leaders can come to power only if they are suitable for such positions, said Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thera.

The Venerable priest pointed this out when Opposition and United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wickremesinghe paid a courtesy call on him.

While speaking with the Prelate, Ranil Wickremesinghe said that the best lessen he learnt from his former leader J.R. Jayewardene was to be patient. Through patience a person could face both victory and defeat alike, he added.
