52-year-old stabbed to death inside Police Station

A person has reportedly been stabbed to death with a sharp object inside the Nawagamuwa Police Station. 

Police said that a 52-year-old man from Karawanella in Avissawella died after being stabbed by another individual inside the police station. 

The suspect who carried out the stabbing has been arrested by the police. 

Police said that a woman and a man were summoned to the Nawagamuwa Police Station for questioning over a complaint filed regarding a dispute over a love affair. 

A male who was previously involved in a relationship with the woman in question was also summoned for questioning.

However, during the inquiry process at the police station, the woman’s current lover had proceeded to stab the woman’s former lover with a sharp object.

The victim was pronounced dead on admission to the Nawagamuwa Hospital. 

Nawagamuwa Police is conducting further investigations into the incident.
