UNS-G to make announcement next week on Panel of Experts’: Pascoe

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, B. Lynn Pascoe says that the UN Secretary-General is to make an announcement on the ‘Panel of Experts’ on Sri Lanka next week.

Mr. Pascoe revealed this while addressing a media briefing a short while ago. During his two day visit Mr. Pascoe met President Mahinda Rajapaksa, External Affairs Minister Professor G.L. Peiris and also flew to the north to see the post war development in the region.

He said that he was impressed by the progress made so far. Mr. Pascoe’s visit will focus on political reconciliation, human rights and the resettlement of internally displaced persons (IDPs), in line with a joint statement made by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and President Rajapaksa when the UN Chief visited Sri Lanka in May last year.
