Cabinet approval to amend Buddhist Temporalities Act

Cabinet of Ministers has approved the preparation of a new draft by the Legal Draftsman, amending the Buddhist Temporalities Act Ordinance o. 19 of 1931, as appropriate for the present based on the proposals by all denominations. 

The President’s Media Division reported that Cabinet approval was granted to prepare a new draft from the Legal Draftsman based on the amendments made unanimously to a Theravada monk discourse bill based on the agreement of all sects. 

Approval was also granted to prepare a new draft amending Buddhist Temporalities Act, Ordinance No.19 of 1931, based on the proposals presented by all denominations, it said.
