Man arrested for obstructing duties of cops after video goes viral

The person who was reported to have obstructed the duties of traffic police officers at Delkanda has been arrested by Mirihana Police, Police Media Spokesperson SSP Nihal Thalduwa says.

The police had launched an investigation into the incident after a video showing the suspect threatening the traffic police officers was widely circulated on social media several days ago.

The video showed the youth in question verbally abusing two traffic police officers when they were trying to issue him a ticket for a traffic offence.

The arrest was made following the investigations carried out into the incident Mirihana Police, according to the police media spokesperson.
