Independence Day ceremony gets underway under President’s patronage

The 75th Independence Day celebrations kicked off after President Ranil Wickremesinghe arrived at Galle Face Green a short while ago.

The Head of State was accorded a warm welcome by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and the Commanders of Tri-Forces.

The event themed “Namo Namo Matha – A Big Step towards a Century” officially commenced as the President graced the event and hoisted the national flag.

Prior to his arrival, PM Gunawardena and other distinguished guests including foreign ministers, ambassadors and delegations were seen arriving at the venue.

The ceremony is joined by Armed Forces, the Police, the Civil Defense Force and the National Cadet Corps Sri Lanka.
