Sanga’s house burglary; suspect nabbed

The burglar suspected of stealing from the house of Kumar Sangakkara and from many other houses in the vicinity of Kandy has been apprehended by officers of the Central Province Police Intelligence Unit.

 

 

He is reported to have stolen goods worth over 3 Million Rupees from houses in and around the city of Kandy including the house of the cricket captain.

 

 

The 42 year old was nabbed by police officers in Colombo and is said to be a resident of Weliweriya. Investigations carried out have revealed that the burglar has been successfully carrying out robberies at night in the vicinity of Kandy for a long period of time and has also robbed tourist arriving to Kandyof their money and possessions.

 

 

Police officers have been able to retrieve goods such as 1 three-wheeler, Rs. 1 lakh and 150 US dollars in cash, 10 mobile phones, 3 digital cameras, 2 gold watches and plenty of gold jewelry that were reported to be stolen by the thief in question.
