Senior Indian official to visit Sri Lanka: Report

CHENNAI: A senior official of the Ministry of External Affairs will visit Sri Lanka to assess the progress (of rehabilitation measures) in Northern and Eastern Provinces, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has informed Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.

In his letter of July 22, Dr. Singh stated that the official would consult India’s High Commissioner and local authorities. The move to send the official was a “measure of our continuing interest and the importance that we attach to this issue.”

The Prime Minister thanked the Chief Minister for his letter of July 17 about the restoration of normal life in northern and eastern Sri Lankan and the contribution that India could make to the process. – (The Hindu)

Beware of the Indians medlling in our affairs... India cannot be trusted, and President MR should be extremely careful of cunning Indians, who are increasingly becoming the puppets of the West. Sri Lanka must always remember that India is soley responsible of creating the LTTE terrorists who nearly destroyed Sri Lanka. Yes, they are our neighbour, but they are not our friends.. China, Pakistan, Russia and even Iran, are our friends who helped us to erradicate Tamil terroism in Sri Lanka, without any strings attached. Please, DO NOT TRUST india, and do not let India to interfere in our internal matters.. Treat them as an extention of the Western hypocrits, who are using idiotic Indians to do their (West´s)dirty work for them...

What a lame move! This is only a political action to show the South Indian voters that India has done something and Karunadithi is powerful enough to influence the PM to act on behalf of his request. Remember election is coming! If PM is so serious he should ask the Foreign Minister to move and set up a permanent unit at the Indian High Commission in Colombo to monitor the progress. Not just try to fool the voters of Tamil Nadu.

Our government already said, it won´t allow any Indian officers to look after the progress, as its, not necessary. But what happens now?.? All are MRs drama.

He can come and go no problem, but then there is absolutely nothing he can do or tell us to do unless what he is saying or telling us to do is mutually beneficial instead of benefiting only India as is the case always. The moron in a turban and his clan should be made to realize that they are making a HUGE mistake if they try to act as BIG brother, should tell them to hell with India´s security because we have to first secure ourselves from an Indian invasion even if that means we have to get increasingly cozier with China. India is trying to become America in the South Asian region, this is why they are doing everything imaginable to create instability in all the countries around it.

When UN secretary general appointed an advisory panel on Srilankan matters some protested, made thovil in front of UN office and later done a joke by making a bogus fast to death. Now India sending an officer to assess the progess of North and East. Why the same elements who danced before not making protests.

India never wanted to act as BIG BROTHER of the island but because Sri Lankan Government representatives, opposition party members visit us weekly to waste the time of our politicians and Government officials. India, as a neighbour of this island extend assistance in various ways at their request but we have been treated unfairly by the Sri Lankans. India must STOP looking at this country and even withdraw our diplomatic and trade relationship and stop issuing visa to sri lankan passport holders. Let them go to hell with their attitude.
