VIDEO: I only untied him - Mervyn

I never tied anyone to a tree, said Mervyn Silva, Deputy Minister of Highways at the parliament today. The Mnister added that he only untied a person who was tied to a tree. Showing a letter to the parliament, he also claimed that the said person has sent him a letter stating that he voluntarily tied himself to a tree.

 

 

Mervyn Silva further added that the letter stated that the purpose of this action was to set an example for everyone.



Deputy Highways Minister Mervyn Silva yesterday tied a Kelaniya Divisional Secretariat official to a mango tree for failing to take proper measures to combat dengue in the area.
