Fine and match ban for Randiv, fine for Dilshan

Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to impose a 100 percent fine and a one match ban on Suraj Randiv. T.M. Dilshan will face a 50 per cent fine on his match fee, said an official from the SLC Interim Committee.
This follows the furor caused after Suraj Randiv bowled a no
ball to V. Sehwag during the last ball of the match when the scores were level.
Sehwag hit him for a six, but it was not counted as the rule book says the no
ball won
This comes after much debate on the issue and team manager Anura Tennekoon’s report that it was batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan who suggested that Randiv bowl a no ball to deny Sehwag his century during the tri-series match.
A six-member committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board met this afternoon to take action on the recommendations of the team manager.
An SLC statement states:
Sri Lanka Cricket is extremely proud of its team and their
achievements over the years. It is of paramount importance to maintain the
discipline of the Gentlemen’s game, especially with Sri Lanka Cricket being
winners of the ‘ICC Spirit of the Game’ award for two consecutive years.
As such Sri Lanka Cricket has taken a stern decision against
Suraj Randiv and T.M. Dilshan, for their actions during the 3rd ODI of the
Micromax Tri-Series held on August 16, 2010, between
Suraj Randiv has been suspended from the next match against
TM Dilshan’s inference in this issue has resulted in his match fee for the same match also being forfeited.
Furthermore, Captain Kumar Sangakkara, too has been advised to ensure that repetition of such incidents do not occur, where disrepute will be brought to the game of Cricket, affecting the spirit of the game.
