Two teams to probe shooting of prisoner

Two teams have been appointed to investigate the incident in Bogambara Prison yesterday where one prisoner was shot dead while trying to escape, says Prisons Commissioner.

 

According to the Prisons Commissioner Major General V. R De Silva the Department of Prisons and the Police have both begun separate investigations into the matter.

 

One prisoner was killed when prison guards had opened fire on two inmates of the Bogambara Prison who had attempted to escape early yesterday morning around 12.30 am when there was light rain in the area.
