CEB cracks down on 371 power pirates

371 people have been placed under arrest for illegally tapping power in the vicinity of Vavuniya. The arrests were made when the special investigation unit of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) carried out two raids yesterday and today morning.


The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Vavuniya Police along with the equipment used by the suspects to tap in to the power grid.


Inspector of Police, Prasad Siriwardana of the Vavuniya Police said that steps would be taken to produce the individuals before court.
