Police arrest two suspects responsible for numerous crimes and striking terror in Kalutara

The Kalutara (South) Police, on Thursday (30 Nov.), arrested a duo believed to have committed several crimes in the Kalutara District.

The suspects, aged 27 and 18 have been identified as ‘Dodangoda Pooskota’ and his associate, residing in the Dodangoda area, police said, adding that the main is suspect is believed to have served in the Gajaba Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army.

Police further reported that methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and heroin were also found in the suspects’ possession at the time of arrest, adding that the duo is slated to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court.

Moreover, two machetes used in their crimes, a foreign-made live hand grenade and a stolen motorcycle were also recovered by the police upon interrogating the suspects.

According to Police, the suspects had attacked a mobile SIM seller in the Panadura area with a machete and stolen money, SIM cards, phones believed to have a collective value of Rs. 150,000. In another incident, they had attacked a man inside an ATM in Bandaragama, and stolen Rs. 150,000, and had also pumped fuel at a fuel station in the Gonaduwa area after having threatened to stab a group of employees at the fuel station.
