Special Commodity Levy imposed on multiple goods

The Special Commodity Levy has been imposed on a number of goods has been with effect from today (Dec.01).

President Ranil Wickremesinghe communicated this in a special government notification, issued in his capacity as the Minister of Finance.

The order will be in place until December 31, 2024, subject to the provisions of Sub Section (3) of Section of the Special Commodity Levy Act, No.48 of 2007.

Among the said items are yogurt, butter, dates, grapes (fresh and dried), apples, fish and big onions.
