The High Command of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) is scheduled to meet today. They will gather today evening for an emergency discussion that will be chaired by party leader Rauff Hakeem, says Hasan Ali, General Secretary of the SLMC.

He also said that many important decisions regarding the future of the party will be made today. Hasan Ali also said it will also be decided whither the SLMC will support the proposed constitutional amendment.

SLMC leader Rauff Hakeem met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the President’s House in Kandy recently (Aug. 25) where they had a discussion that lasted for over an hour. After their meeting rumors were rife that the SLMC might back the government.
