Police recover hand grenade from building in Dehiwala

A hand grenade was reportedly found inside an eleven-storey building in Dehiwala on Wednesday morning (06 Dec.).

According to police, the grenade was found wrapped in a polythene bag, by a security officer on the fifth floor of the building, who subsequently reported the matter to the Dehiwala Police.

The hand grenade was later recovered by the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Police Special Task Force (STF).

The building, located at No. 124 Anagarika Dharmapala Mawatha, remains an abandoned construction site, police said.
