Landslide early warnings issued for 09 districts

The National Building and Research Organisation (NBRO), on Sunday (Dec. 10) issued early landslide warnings for several localities in nine districts, to be in effect until 03.30 p.m. tomorrow (Dec. 11).

 

Accordingly, a Level 02 (Amber) alert was issued for the following areas:

  • Badulla - Hali Ela Divisional Secretariat Division (DSD) and surrounding areas
  • Kalutara - Ingiriya DSD and surrounding areas
  • Kandy - Yatinuwara, Thumpane and Pasbage Korale DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Ratnapura - Balangoda and Imbulpe DSDs and surrounding areas

Meanwhile, Level 01 (Yellow) alerts have been issued for the following areas:

  • Badulla - Passara, Ella and Haldummulla DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Kalutara - Walallawita DSD and surrounding areas
  • Kandy - Pathadumbara, Ududumbara, Udapalatha, Medadumbara and Gangawata Korale DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Kegalle - Galigamuwa DSD and surrounding areas
  • Kurunegala - Mawathagama, Rideegama and Polgahawela DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Matale - Ukuwela, Ambanganga Korale, Laggala Pallegama and Naula DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Matara - Kotapola and Pasgoda DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Nuwara Eliya - Ambagamuwa, Walapane and Hanguranketha DSDs and surrounding areas
  • Ratnapura - Weligepola, Opanayake, Elapatha, Kalawana and Kuruwita DSDs and surrounding areas
