Operation ‘Yukthiya’: 1,229 suspects arrested island-wide

A total of 1,229 suspects have been arrested by security forces during a 24-hour operation across the island ending at 12.30 am today (Jan. 01), says the Ministry of Public Security.

Accordingly, the drugs seized during the operation include 440 grams of heroin, 260 grams of ‘ICE’ drugs, 15kg 300s of cannabis and 417 narcotic pills.

The arrested suspects include 23 females while 86 of the arrested suspects are to be further investigated under detention orders. Meanwhile, 40 arrested drug addicts are to be sent for rehabilitation.
