The Speaker of Parliament today said that the Supreme Court has decided that the 18th amendment is consistent with the constitution of Sri Lanka. He added that the court also said that a 2/3rd majority in parliament is sufficient to pass the amendment.

It was also observed that majority of the UNP MPs were clad in black today. UNP MP Abdul Cader however donned his usual attire and was not in black.
