38-year-old brutally hacked to death in Matugama

A person has been brutally attacked to death with sharp weapons in the Ovitigala area of Matugama early this morning (03), the police said.

The 38-year-old victim, identified as M. Kalana, was a resident of the same area, according to Matugama Police.

An unidentified group of assailants had carried out the attack early this morning, the police said, adding that the victim, who sustained critical injuries, was pronounced dead upon admission to the Nagoda Teaching Hospital in Kalutara.

The suspects have not been identified yet, and Matugama Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
