UNP boycott indirectly supporting amendment – Laskhman
September 8, 2010 12:25 pm
UNP MP Lakshman Senevirathne speaking during the debate on the 18th amendment a short while ago stated that the UNP decision to boycott the dabate is an indirect method of supporting the amendment. He added that Opposition Leader Ranil Wcikremasinghe’s lack of ability to read the pulse of the people has led to the destruction of the opposition.
Seneviratne also claimed that the UNP MPs including himself who will vote today in favour of the constitutional amendment will do so without any hesitation.
Seneviratne is among the handful of UNP MPs present in parliament today due to the general boycott called on by the UNP. The UNP Badulla Disctrict MP on September 3 said that ideally the UNP should vote in favour of the constitutional amendment proposed by the Government.
