EXCLUSIVE: Dayasiri gives deadline for UNP
September 10, 2010 10:38 am
UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara speaking exclusively to Ada Derana today warned the UNP party leadership that if the crises within the party is not settled within a week he will sit as an independent MP in parliament. He added that 25 UNP MPs were prepared to do the same if the current trend is not changed.
Jayasekara strongly claimed that he will at no cost join the government and in no way does this decision mean that he will leave the party. I am doing this because I love the party and care for the supporters. 17 UNP MPs have joined the government and within the short span of five months the number of our MPs has declined from 60 to 43, he added. He challenged the leadership of the UNP to settle the crises and make the party a peoples’ party once more.
