Eight year old boy killed in Beruwala shootout

An eight year old boy was killed today in a shootout between police and a gang of robbers in Beruwala. The incident had taken place when a Maharagama Police team along with a suspect had gone to nab the group of thieves.

 

The shootout had taken place near a petrol shed in Beruwala, and the eight year old boy who was in a trishaw near the scene had gotten shot in the cross fire. The boy Sudil Nilupul a resident of Moregalle, Beruwala had been admitted to the Beruwala hospital and later transferred to the Nagoda Base hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

 

The suspected gang of robbers had however escaped in the car they were traveling in. A special police investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
