Accused sentenced to life in prison over drug possession

The Supreme Court has confirmed the verdict issued by the Colombo High Court to an accused found guilty of drug trafficking and possession of 2.42 grams of heroin, sentencing him to life in prison.

This order was issued by a three-member Supreme Court judge bench while dismissing an appeal filed by the accused in question in this regard.

The Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) had arrested the suspect along with the drugs in his possession during a special raid.
