The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers are possible at times in the Eastern and Uva provinces and Hambantota District over the next 36 hours.

Several spells of showers may occur in North-central and Northern provinces. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere on the island in the afternoon or at night.

Meanwhile, fairly heavy showers of above 75mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western Provinces.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces and Galle and Matara districts in the morning.

The members of the public are advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
