Rs. 100mn worth of assets owned by underworld figures confiscated

Assets worth more than Rs. 100 million – including multi-day fishing craft, three-wheelers, motorcycles and plots of land – owned by underworld figures have been confiscated, the police said.

These assets were impounded by the Illegal Assets and Properties Investigation Division of Sri Lanka Police in Galle, Ambalangoda, and Ahungalla, under the ongoing ‘Yukthiya’ operation.

This special island-wide operation was launched in December 2023 to crack down on drug peddling and organized crimes in the country.

The seized assets are as follows:

1. ISUZU FREEZER truck – Rs. 6.5 million
2. HONDA DIO motorcycle – Rs. 500,000
3. Dump truck – Rs. 10 million
4. HONDA DIO motorcycle – Rs 400,000
5. TOYOTA KDH – Rs. 14 million
6. BAJAJ three-wheeler – Rs. 1 million
7. BAJAJ three-wheeler – Rs. 700,000
8. IMUL-A-0983-GLE fishing vessel – Rs. 15 million
9. IMUL-A-0701KLT fishing vessel –Rs. 11 million
10. IMUL-A-0810-GLE fishing vessel under production – Rs. 5.2 million (paid for production)
11. Three houses, one storage room and five land plots – Rs. 53 million
12. Two land plots – Rs. 21 million
