Man shot in Ahungalla succumbs to injuries

UPDATE: (9.45 pm) - The person who was injured in the shooting incident in the Maradana area in Ahungalla has succumbed to his injuries, police said.


One person was critically injured and hospitalised following a shooting incident reported in Ahungalla.

Police said the person injured in the shooting was admitted to the Balapitiya Base Hospital for treatment and that he was in critical condition. 

Ada Derana reporter said the shooting had occurred in the Maradana area in Ahungalla and that the victim, 54-year-old Piyal Gamini, is a resident of the area.

The shooting was reportedly carried out by two unidentified individuals who had arrived on a motorcycle and while the victim was in his garden. He had been shot in the stomach several times by the gunmen.
