Excise Dept. employee and bank manager among 08 arrested over drug racket

An individual employed at the Excise Department and a person who is said to be a manager of a private bank are among 08 suspects arrested by Alawathugoda Police in connection with a drug racket.

Drugs including heroin, crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and cannabis as well as a digital scale and around Rs. 10,000 in cash have been found in the possession of the arrested suspects. 

Court has granted permission to detain until May 29 and question the Excise Department employee and the private bank manager, who are among the arrested suspects.

The 08 suspects in question had been arrested based on information uncovered following the interrogation of a suspect arrested by Alawathugoda Police while peddling heroin. 

Alawathugoda Police is conducting further investigations into the suspects.
