Teenager dead after earth mound collapses on house

A sixteen-year-old boy has been reported dead after a mound of earth collapsed on a house in the Wathuliyadda area in Medamahanuwara.

The incident had occurred early this morning (20), following heavy rainfall in the region, Theldeniya Police said.

The 16-year-old school boy, who was sleeping in the house at the time, got stuck under the soil and collapsed walls of the house. Later, he had been rescued by local residents and rushed to hospital.

However, the teenager has succumbed to injuries after being admitted to the hospital.
