Person killed in Kotahena shooting

A 44-year-old person has reportedly died following a shooting incident at Benedict Mawatha in Kotahena police division.

The victim succumbed to his injuries upon admission to the Colombo National Hospital, police confirmed.

The deceased was a resident of Jampettah Street, Colombo.

The shooting was carried out by one of two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle at around 7:30 p.m. today (10).

Preliminary investigations have revealed that a T-56 assault rifle was used in the attack.

Four police teams have been deployed to investigate and arrest the suspects involved, police said.
