Tissa Attanayake withdraws from SJB-UNP discussions

February 16, 2025   03:35 pm

SJB National Organiser Tissa Attanayake has announced that he will no longer participate in future discussions between the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the United National Party (UNP), as he has withdrawn from the committee appointed to hold discussions with the UNP.

Calling a special press conference today (16), the former parliamentarian further said:

“Our Working Committee and Management Committee had decided to initiate these discussions. If there was any ambiguity regarding the process, it should have been reported.”

He also added that if the discussions are no longer necessary, a decision should be made to discontinue them, and that blaming each other is not relevant to the matter.

“Therefore, if the party has taken a certain stance on these discussions, I will not rejoin the discussion until the next working committee decides on that stance,” he added.
