Wild elephant killed after being hit by freight train

A wild elephant was killed after being hit by a freight train at around 8:45 p.m. yesterday (27).
The incident occurred between Galgamuwa and Ambanpola.
According to the Department of Railways, the incident disrupted train operations along the Northern railway line.
The wild elephant died on the spot as a result of the collision, the Department noted.
