A decision has been taken to launch a continuous island-wide trade union action starting January 23, the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has announced.
The GMOA noted that the decision was taken during its Executive Committee meeting held today (19).
The Association noted that the government through the 2026 budget proposals have failed to provide solutions to the real problems faced by doctors and the broader health sector, causing considerable dissatisfaction within the medical community.
The GMOA added that following discussions with the President and the Minister of Health, it had temporarily suspended the proposed trade union action.
However, the GMOA warned that due to the lack of further consultations and government’s failure to fulfill agreements, it has decided to move towards union action.
